My OpenAI Founder Day Talk: Codex for Non-Developers

I shared the deck and seven solo-builder workflows from the only solo-builder session I ran at Founder Day 2026 — including the fact Codex built the slides.

At OpenAI Founder Day 2026 I spoke on Codex for non-developers, as the only solo builder on the stage that day. I was not there to pitch a company product. I was there as a power user and, frankly, a daily OpenAI salesperson for the tool I actually run.

The session drew the largest room of the ones I saw, and I am publishing the full material I promised to the 200+ people who requested it.

The design question behind the deck was simple: why should a non-developer use Codex when Claude Code and others exist? The slides carry my answer, plus seven workflows I run as a one-person team.

Codex produced the entire slide deck. That is a fair signal of where generation quality sits for structured visual work.

After the talk I received recruiting interest from three major companies, including listed firms. I declined politely. It still felt like the market pricing “solo builder” as a real category, not a hobby label.

If the workflows and setup flow help your non-dev team start, good. Questions welcome.
